Capabilities

Capabilities

Capabilities are the things your agent does for you. You pick them during onboarding and can toggle them any time, either from the Capabilities surface or by just asking: "turn on deep research" flips the same switch. See Talking to your agent.

The catalog

CapabilityWhat it does
Morning briefA daily digest of your calendar, inbox, and what needs attention. Delivered on a rhythm, before you ask.
Pre-meeting briefsA short brief on who you are meeting and the relevant context, ahead of each meeting.
Ask your agentAsk anything about your people, inbox, or notes. Grounded answers, with sources.
Voice notesSend a voice note any time. It is transcribed, understood, and acted on.
Calendar syncKeeps your calendar in sync so briefs are always current.
Weekly check-inA short weekly check-in that keeps your goals and priorities current.
Email triageClassifies and summarizes inbound email so you see what matters.
Deep researchHand off a research question. Your agent investigates and reports back.
Network warmthFlags important relationships going cold and suggests who to reach out to.

Focus presets

Onboarding infers a focus from your voice interview and pre-selects a matching bundle. You can mix and match. The focus is just a starting point.

  • Lead & decide. Daily briefings, meeting prep, and answers grounded in your people.
  • Build & ship. Research on tap, relationships kept warm, fast answers.
  • Research & analyze. Deep research, a sharp Q&A partner, and a weekly check-in. See Shimmer for researchers for the full picture.
  • Travel & events. Trip planning, event coordination, calendar logistics, last-mile reminders.

How proactivity works

Capabilities like the morning brief and pre-meeting prep run on a schedule, not only when you open the app:

  • The morning brief is grounded in your live calendar, inbox, and people, and arrives at the time you set ("set my brief time to 7am" works).
  • A pre-meeting brief is ready at least 15 minutes before each meeting, with the attendees one tap away in your Memory.
  • An arrival brief greets you on Home when you open the app, unprompted.
  • Same-day calendar changes (a moved or cancelled meeting) are noticed within about a minute and surfaced, so a reschedule never slips past you.

Shimmer surfaces what is changing, then proposes. Anything outbound waits on your approval card. You approve before anything leaves your hands.

Not yet

Things Shimmer cannot do today, so you know before you plan around them. All are on the roadmap:

  • Sign in with a crypto wallet. Today sign-in is passkeys; wallet sign-in is on the roadmap.
  • Attach images or files in chat. The reply box is text and voice for now.
  • Act on Microsoft outbound where your organization has not approved the app yet. Reads work once IT approves; ask us for the one-page approval guide.
  • Message people on your WhatsApp number. Your agent can read bridged conversations for context, but does not send from your number.
  • A native mobile app. Install the web app to your home screen instead; it works well there.
  • Public API access. There is no developer API today.
