1. Request an invite

Go to get.shimmer.fyi (opens in a new tab) and enter your email under Request an invite. You are placed on the waitlist; when a spot opens you are admitted and can sign up. If you were invited directly, your email is already approved and you can sign in immediately.

2. Sign in with a passkey

Sign-in is your email plus a passkey: Face ID, Touch ID, or your device PIN. There is no password to remember, and nothing for an attacker to phish. Behind the scenes, your account holds a managed cryptographic key in secure hardware that produces signatures on your behalf, so your sessions are signed without you ever handling a key. Crypto wallet sign-in is on the roadmap.

New here? Sign-in routes you straight into onboarding.

3. Onboarding (/start)

A short wizard sets your agent up:

  1. Handle. Your agent's address, e.g. @you:shimmer.fyi. This becomes your subdomain (you.shimmer.fyi). Handles are unique and checked live as you type.
  2. Soul. The character your agent adopts. Pick a preset or write your own; even a couple of sentences is enough, Shimmer expands short souls into a full document. See Agent souls.
  3. Voice interview. Answer a few questions out loud, or type them. Shimmer transcribes your answers locally and uses them to understand who you are, what outcome matters most this month, and the people central to your work.
  4. Focus & capabilities. Shimmer infers a likely focus from your interview and pre-selects a sensible set of capabilities. Adjust freely.

4. Connect your sources

Connecting your calendar and inbox is where Shimmer comes alive. From the Connectors surface, choose Google or Microsoft; a consent popup runs on a verified app, and the credential is held by a hardware-isolated credential broker operated by human.tech, never on Shimmer's servers.

The moment you connect, your agent goes to work: meeting attendees, inbox correspondents, and contacts flow into your Memory so your network is populated within minutes, not days. Each connector row shows exactly which accounts are connected, and you can add more than one.

Work on Microsoft 365 at an organization with managed accounts? Your IT administrator may need to approve the app once for your organization; ask us for the one-page approval guide.

5. Your first brief

Your morning brief arrives on a schedule (default 06:30, or just tell your agent "set my brief time to 7am"). It is grounded in your actual calendar, inbox, and people. Before each meeting, a pre-meeting brief is ready at least 15 minutes ahead. When you open the app, an arrival brief on Home catches you up without being asked.

A getting-started strip on Home tracks your remaining setup steps and disappears once you have finished them.

From here, the app is three surfaces: Home, Chat, and Memory, with Connectors, Docs, and Settings one tap deeper. The full tour: The dashboard. Most settings can also be changed by just asking your agent.
